Poonam Kaur is the latest to join the bandwagon of actors and actresses who change their name after entering the film industry. Poonam Kaur will henceforth be called Nakshatra and the actress who was seen in a small role in Radha Mohan’s Payanam is now playing an important role in the Prabhu Deva directed film starring Vishal and Sameera Reddy. This movie is the remake of the Telugu film Shouryam and Nakshatra who was a part of the original, will reprise her role in the Tamil version too.
She is a former Miss Andhra title winner and made her debut in the SA Chandrasekar directorial Nenjirukkam Varai opposite Narain which was a failure at the box office. After that she was seen in a few Telugu films until Payanam happened. We hope the name change will help her cause of making a successful career in Tamil cinema.
